The Community & Culture Committee and its sub-committee(s) focus on the Association’s mission to strengthen the cultural identity of Townships English-speaking community and to encourage its full participation in the community at large. It also addresses the 5-year objective to support and showcase the English-speaking community and its heritage and culture.

Mission of the Community & Culture Committee
To support and showcase the English-speaking community of the Eastern Townships , and its heritage and culture.

Mandate

1. Develop and oversee the realisation of a strategy to support and showcase the English-speaking community and its heritage and culture, in part through Townships Expressions: Books and Music from the Townships.
   
2. Collaborate with the Townshippers of Tomorrow Committee to highlight the dynamism of the English-speaking community in the Eastern Townships.
   
3. Collaborate with the staff concerning pertinent research to be carried out or findings that will inform the committee’s work.
   
4. Collaborate with the Communications Committee in disseminating information to the public, in drafting briefs related to heritage and cultural issues, and in facilitating the provision of information and referral services to individuals or groups concerning these issues.
   
5. Recommend to the Board of Directors the Townshippers’ Day host town, and oversee the establishment of an annual ad hoc Townshippers’ Day Organizing Committee which includes at least one member of the Community & Culture Committee.
   
6. Ensure recognition of community volunteers through nominations for awards and organizing and carrying out the annual Outstanding Townshippers awards and banquet.
