OPEN HOUSE AND EXPRESSIONS RECEPTION
March 17, at 12-2 , Knowlton

Come one, come all to Townshippers’ Association’s annual Open House in the Montérégie-East part of the Townships. It is planned for Saint Patrick’s Day, Wednesday March 17, from 12 noon to 2 p.m., at Townshippers’ branch office, 584 Knowlton Road, Knowlton.

 

The activities will include a reception for Townships Expressions: Books, Music and More from the Eastern Townships, featuring Keith Whittal and Gail Klinck.

 

Whittal and Klinck, Townships Expressions participants, will rouse us with songs from their new CD and a few o’ the Irish variety as well. The new Taproot IV will be on sale, and staff members will be present to answer questions or just chat. There’ll be something to nibble on, music to hum along to, ready ears to listen. And remember, everyone’s Irish! Wear the colours!

George Campbell of Care and Share focusing on types of loss - loss of a partner, job, autonomy, etc. from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday March 11 at the CLSC in Cowansville, 397 rue de la Rivière, Cowansville. An initiative of Avante Women’s Center, in partnership with Townshippers Association, Community Health Education Program and the CLSC Cowansville.

NEW INSIGHTS: Eastern Townships English-speaking Community
Tuesday, March 23, at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. , Day’s Inn, Cowansville

Townshippers’ Association is holding a one-day multi-sectoral symposium entitled NEW INSIGHTS: Eastern Townships English-speaking Community. The program will encompass health promotion and demographic research relevant to the Eastern Townships English-speaking minority and various health determinants – the building blocks of a vital community.

In the Montérégie East, this symposium is planned for Tuesday, March 23, at the Day’s Inn, Cowansville. In the Estrie, it is to take place on Wednesday, March 24, at Bishop’s University, Lennoxville.

These events are part of the Eastern Townships Health Promotion Project, and will include presentations of the results of research carried out during the first phase of this initiative. Our aim is that symposium participants in each area of the Townships will together help identify priorities for better adapting existing health promotion initiatives and resources to meet the needs of the English-speaking minority.
