Young Townships Leaders Awards:
Celebrating Youth Leadership in our Community

It’s time, once again, for the Young Townships Leaders awards, Townshippers’ Association’s annual celebration of youth leadership in the Eastern Townships. Designed to honour young leaders in our community, these awards help shine a spotlight on all the great things young people in the Eastern Townships are doing, right here and right now! “We want to recognize the talented, enthusiastic and community-minded young people living amongst us, who are doing great things for our community” said Michelle Lepitre, coordinator of the awards.

For this, the seventh edition of the awards, a couple of changes are in store. To encourage increased creativity and self-expression in the nomination process, nominators can now submit any kind of supporting document with their nomination, including a list of achievements, a scrapbook, a short video or collage, or any other form of creative expression that helps to demonstrate the leadership qualities of the nominee. Also, the Young Townships Leaders award ceremony will be combined with the Outstanding Townshippers ceremony this year, to form a new Townshippers’ Association Awards Banquet that will honour Townships leaders of all ages and allow them to celebrate their achievements together, with their families and friends.

If you can think of a young person who deserves to be recognized for his or her contributions to the Eastern Townships English-speaking community, be sure to pick up a nomination form and nominate him or her today. By nominating a young leader you know, you will be helping Townshippers’ Association honour the deserving young leaders in our community.

Members of the public are invited to submit nominations before 5 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010. Candidates presented for nomination must be residents of the Eastern Townships (between the ages of 15 and 35) who have carried out actions or initiatives demonstrating leadership within the Eastern Townships English-speaking community over the past two years.
