INTERGENERATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL COMES TO STANBRIDGE-EAST
SHERBROOKE June 11, 2010
The popular FREE Intergenerational Music Festival is coming to the Montérégie on Saturday May 29 at the Memorial Hall, 20 Academy Street in Stanbridge-East. Activities are planned from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Everyone is welcome and all activities are free!
“With this festival, we are creating a space for elder musicians and younger musicians and artists to perform their favourite material, and times for playing together and learning from one another,” said Eric Akbar Manolson, Coordinator of Townshippers’ Association’s With Respect to our Elders project. “I know we are going to be surprised by the diversity and high quality of music from performers of different ages throughout the Townships.”
Performers will include youth from the Bedford music studio and local performers including Dave and the Blue Shadows, Linda Wand, Olivier Duhamel, Ulysse Correia among others.
“Intergenerational activities were named as priorities with regards to health promotion during a symposium held this spring in Cowansville. Holding an Intergenerational Music Festival in Stanbridge-East allows various people to get together around their shared passion for music and fosters links between the different generations and cultures, which is important in a global perspective of health for individuals and communities,” mentions Christelle Bogosta, coordinator for the Montérégie-East Network of the Eastern Townships Partners for Health and Social Services at Townshippers’ Association.
