McGill Retention Project

McGill Retention Project

The Health & Social Services Human Resources Development Project offers a unique opportunity for bilingual students and professionals in the health and social service fields to discover the Eastern Townships, while supporting the growth of regional access programs for English-speaking communities.

The objectives of McGill University’s Retention and Distance Professional and  Community Support Program are to increase the number of English-speaking technicians and professionals working in Quebec’s health and social services system and to increase the range of services offered in English to the English-speaking communities of the Province of Quebec.

Through the project, we will:

Help institutions and organizations adapt existing recruitment policies in order to encourage the recruitment of English-speaking professionals;

Assist in the recruitment of English-speaking students to the Eastern Townships and work to ensure successful completion of their field placement with a local service provider, all while helping to secure employment for the students following their internships;

Assist in the development of lasting collaborations and partnership agreements between the teaching institutions and the Estrie HSS network;

Demonstrate the benefits of living in the Townships;

Ensure the return of Townships-born professionals following the completion of their studies;

Ensure that Health and Social Service needs and priorities of the English-speaking community are understood and met;

Develop an initiative to encourage English high school student to consider careers in the Health and Social services sector.
